Two upcoming events to keep in mind. . . .

The Vermillion Literary Project is sponsoring a poetry slam on Thursday, August 26th, at 7 p.m., at the Coffee Shop Gallery, 24 W. Main Street, downtown Vermillion. This event is free and open to the general public. Slam poets should bring at least three poems. Prizes will be awarded! For those who don't know, a poetry slam is a competition for poets. South Dakota Festival of Books in Sioux Falls, held August 27-29. See this website for a schedule and details: http://web.sdstate.edu/humanities/festival/ . Of special interest. . . . USD English Dept. faculty and organizations will be reading their work and/or participating in other ways, including Edward Allen, Lee Ann Roripaugh, the South Dakota Review, and the Vermillion Literary Project.
